Rules

General League Rules

Each year, the CBSL Board reviews its rules and best practices with the goal of giving players the safest, fun baseball experience. The General Rules provide the overall framework for league operations, including team eligibility, rosters, scheduling, coach and town responsibilities, score reporting, pitch count tracking, communication procedures, and other league-wide policies. These rules are intended to create a clear and consistent structure for all participating towns while preserving the Board’s ability to interpret, clarify, or modify rules when needed.

Game Rules

The CBSL Game Rules establish the on-field rules for regular and playoff season play across each division. These rules cover game length, official game requirements, pitching limitations, player participation, substitutions, run limits, base running, tie games, weather-related procedures, and other game-day expectations. The goal of these rules is to provide a fair, competitive, and development-focused baseball experience for players, coaches, umpires, and families.

Playoff Format and Structure

The CBSL Playoff Format and Structure outlines how teams qualify for postseason play, how seeding is determined, and how playoff brackets are organized by division. The format is designed to reward regular season performance while creating a competitive and balanced postseason experience. Playoff structures may vary by division, including single-elimination or double-elimination formats, host-site procedures, tiebreakers, and championship game procedures, all as administered by the CBSL Board.
