CBSL Playoff Rule Changes

Most regular-season playing rules remain in effect during the CBSL playoffs. Coaches should be aware of the following postseason changes:

No Ties

  • All playoff games must have a winner.
  • The seventh inning is played under normal rules.
  • Beginning in the eighth inning, each team starts the inning with a runner on second base.
  • The runner is the player who completed the final at-bat of the previous inning.
  • A game suspended before completion will resume from the exact point where play stopped.

No Five-Run Inning Limit

  • The regular-season five-run-per-inning limit does not apply during the playoffs.
  • Teams may continue scoring until three outs are recorded. The 12-run mercy rule remains in effect.

Game locations are determined by the playoff bracket.

  • Higher-seeded teams is the default host, unless mutually agreed by teams to modify.

  • Championship games are played at the league-designated championship location
